Pullip Sacralita unboxing (and some moldy clothes)

The blog has been very quiet since last summer. I think I am going to also make some non-craft related posts here in the future, now it has been more craft heavy. I moved to a new apartment end of last year and I had to throw away some of my bigger photo backgrounds and art supplies (like my stack of cardboard boxes), so I have been little bit unmotivated to do any doll crafts. Now I have a big cardboard box on hand, so I hope to do crafting related posts about doll furniture at some point.

This post, however, I want to introduce my Mandarake find from last month. I love Pullip dolls, but I haven't own any myself in many years. However, when I saw this old Pullip Sacralita (2004) on Mandarake website I had to get her. She is one of the older Pullips I really like. I am obsessed with nun themed horror movies.

As soon as I opened the box I was horrified that her legs were broken. She has the Pullip body type 2, which has fragile ankles. Thankfully, when I took off her stockings I realised her ankles are just bent in a weird position and her shoes have fallen off. I am planning to get her a new body at some point, so even if the ankles would have been broken, it would not have been a huge deal.

She has the older type doll stand that is made of metal. I really like these stands as they feel more durable.

Mandarake listing had an information that the doll has some mold in her clothes. The doll smelled moldy and the clothes had white moldy spots as well as some staining. I took off the clothes, wiped them with rubbing alcohol and threw them in washing machine (hand wash cycle) with some laundry vinegar. I cleaned the doll and her wig with water to get rid of any smells.

Type 2 body has two different types of plastic; the torso part is soft. As you can see the body has had some weird chemical reaction in the part where the torso connects to the lower body. Thankfully, the body doesn't feel sticky or anything, so I don't think any plastic softeners are coming out actively.

She came with the clothes, shoes, stand, card, small bible and statue.

She is super cute and I decided to name her Irene like one of the most iconic nun horror movies characters.
